ROYAL NAVY 1939-45

During the Second World War, the Royal Navy occupied a very prominent place in the British national consciousness, but today the vital role played by the Royal Navy is often overlooked in lieu of the more dominant place in the narrative of the Army at Dunkirk and D-Day and the RAF during the Battle of Britain. Yet here at Blighty we take a keen interest in all aspects of Britain and its armed forces during this period, leading to extensive research into the Royal Navy in parallel with the two other services. We have previously covered Royal Navy ratings, Petty Officers, and Commissioned Officers of both the Surface Fleet and the Fleet Air Arm.
